It’s Okay

Today I am thinking about expectations. We often put them on ourselves at the holidays, but this year, well I think we have put them on overdrive.

I’m the worst. The. Worst.

This is my favorite time of the year so I’m always on the quest to make it perfect. This was true before children and it hasn’t slowed down even with mine having ridden the Polar Express and into teen-dom (though in their own way they do still hear the bell).

With this year being the Schitts Creek Show that it’s been I was leaning into the feeling that I had to make this Christmas really awesome. Except that is incredibly unrealistic,

I’m tired. I mean really tired. Deep bone tired, both emotionally and physically. While I need the magic of the lights, I need someone else to hang them. And buy the perfect gifts. And wrap the perfect gifts. And so on.

Listen, It’s Really Okay

So I’m telling you (and me) it’s okay. Wherever you are is okay.

No, really. It’s okay.
