Shining the Starlight #17 -- Memorial Day 2014 Edition
Every year, I try to share companies that celebrate our vets and current military with specials on Memorial Day and Military Appreciation Month. Here are a few of those organizations; please share them with the military friends and family in your life.

On Monday, Lowe's and Home Depot will offer a 10% discount (up to $500) to Vets on Monday. This discount applies to active duty all year long. Please check with your store for any limitations or restrictions.
Joann's Craft Stores offer 20%off the transaction for military members.
Michael's is offering a 10% discount to military members.
Foot Action is offering a 20% discount to Military and Military Retirees and spouses.
Tanger Outlets will thank our Military Community with a complimentary upgrade to a one-day, TangerClub membership. Shoppers must show a military ID in order to receive a one-day, TangerClub membership. In addition to one-day, TangerClub membership, all military members who purchase $50 or more at Tanger Outlets will receive a FREE $10 Tanger gift card. Offer redeemable at Shopper Services on during Military Appreciation Month, May 1st - 31st. One gift card per household.Many other retailers offer location-based discounts. I recommend asking retailers on an individual basis. If they do, please thank them!
Vehicles
Chevrolet has expanded their Military Appreciation Month to now include all Veterans along with Active Duty, Reserves, and Retirees -- including their spouses. This is a change and for it, I say, "thanks Chevy." The discount varies based upon the vehicle so check the website for details. For other GM Vehicles, check out https://www.gmmilitarydiscount.com.
Ford also offers a $500 bonus cash program for Military, recently-Retired, and their families. Check out their website for details.
Restaurants
Hooters offers 10 Free Wings to Military, Vets, and their Spouses.
Amusements
The Anheuser-Busch parks including SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Sesame Place, offer a free admission to Military ServiceMembers as well as National Guardsman, and three dependents year round. Check out Waves of Honor for details.
Disney has long offered a Shades of Green program providing low-cost lodging and discounted tickets. They have recently expanded the program to include Veterans (limitations apply).

As much as I love the above companies for honoring our troops, I can't help but stop and say this day is about more than sales and discounts. Freedom isn't free. Please take a moment today to truly remember why it's allied Memorial Day.
