Friday Fragments #22
Welcome to Friday Fragments. If you haven’t fragged before, Friday Fragments is a place to share those thoughts, quips, and tidbits that don’t quite make a whole post, e.g. fragments or frags. I host every Friday and would love for you to join in. Please link up and visit other Fraggers.

A lot has happened since we last fragged. Hours later, the horrific attacks in Paris took place. Most of my thoughts have been directed toward the city and the victims.
One week later, I send light and love to all affected by acts of terror, wherever they live. I am holding my loved ones a little tighter. One week before Thanksgiving, I am also feeling tremendously grateful for the many blessings in my life. If you are reading this, you are one of those blessings. Thank you for being a part of my life and sharing in my week.
I wish you all a blessed, happy, and safe Thanksgiving. As we enter the holiday season, I wish for what generations past have done. May there be peace on Earth. Good will to men.

Possibly because of this or possibly because I am a sap by nature, I have become keenly aware of something very important to me that my children may not have in their lives. We have been at my parents' home in preparation for returning to the trailer and our travels. Even with all the decluttering and downsizing we did over the prior year, there was still a lot in their storage to go through. As anyone who has had to go through 15 years of paper can tell you, it's not a very fun task. Hidden within old bank statements and school papers, I found cards and letters from friends and family, a beautiful surprise. Specifically, I got a catch in my throat when I found a card from my Big Momma who just passed this summer.
My husband and I discussed that we both have cans filled with notes passed between best friends and wanna-be romantic interests. We have letters from loved ones and tickets from concerts. In this digital world of text, IM, and FB birthday messages, will they have a moment of nostalgia like that? Will a note from a friend fall out of an old book? I (obviously) love the digital world for many things and saving trees definitely does matter but I think it will be a little sad if they don't have any tangible memories from their childhood.

On a much brighter note, hubby and I drove to San Antonio to witness a wedding. It was a lovely ceremony and a reminder of the power of love. Something we could all use a little more of right now.
It was held at a very cool place - the Menger Hotel. It is considered the most haunted hotel in Texas. Hubby and I want to go back and attend the haunted tour and dinner. Looks like a lot of fun!

Finally, my dad celebrated his birthday yesterday. He is a great man and I am lucky to have him in my life. Last night we took him for Tex-Mex.
