Imagine More Love, Less Hate
I have struggled with what to write after the horrific events of Saturday night. I am swimming in feelings on every end of the spectrum. There is a huge amount of pain and fear but also there is so much more love and beauty in the aftermath. I have held onto the thought that love will always win.I know this. In my almost-45 years on this earth, I have met many people in my life -- Devout Jews and Muslims, Born-again Christians and Atheists. Gay and Straight, and every beautiful color in the rainbow. Black and white, native and pilgrim. Immigrant and patrician. In all of those people, I have never known anyone capable of the acts that happened two nights ago. Personally, I do not care why he hated. It was hate and hate must end. What happened is so earth-shaking that I do not want to reduce it to FB memes and hashtags. That said, I have found the tag #morelovelesshate to be one that I can hold onto in this troubling time.
More Love, Less Hate
That is really what this world needs. More acceptance and understanding. More kindness and tolerance. Those who have followed me since my 38 and Growing days, know how much music is a part of my life. The song "Imagine" has run through my head over and over. So today, I want to share it with my sincere hope that we can imagine a world with more love and less hate.
