When Peter and Alice Meet in Hollywood, There Has to Be a Party
When I was young, I loved listening to Peter and the Wolf by Serge Prokofiev. I had seen the ballet several times and heard the story read several more times. I had no trouble envisioning Peter's grandfather, his animal friends and the sneaky wolf on the snowy Russian landscape. That said, my kids turn up their nose at any classical music so I had never been able to share this experience with my kiddos.Until I got this...

I got this wonderful pack of goodies introducing an updated take on this 80 year old allegory. Peter's grandfather is now a groundskeeper to an aging Hollywood star. Peter has come to America to live with him and finds a whole new world. And if that weren't enough, the story is narrated by Alice Cooper. Yes, you read that right -- Alice Cooper. He does a fabulous job, BTW.And not only has Peter moved into the 21st century, so has the platform. It's now an app.One can never celebrate anything about Hollywood without having a party! With a box filled with balloons, pretzels, Jell-O, and everything else one might need, that is exactly what we did. 
Unfortunately, our party of six became a party of three (Summer parties - y'all) but we still had a great time.
More so, however, is this fun new app. With its gorgeous illustrations, the Peter and the wolf in Hollywood app incorporates the classic tale of a brave boy and his duck friend with all the glitz of La-La Land and the fun of rock and roll. It is a great way to share this story with a generation of eye rollers. (Or maybe, that's just my kids.)
The app cost $4.99 but offers a great interactive set of tabs to help parents bring Peter to life. The first part of the story is available free, however, allowing for a test run. The parents tab breaks down the story into three recommended viewings especially for bedtime.
