What's Happening Austin -- Newsies, The Review
On Tuesday evening, I had the pleasure of attending the opening night of Newsies at the Bass Concert Hall. This toe-tapping, foot-stomping extravaganza brings to life the trials an triumphs of Jack Kelly and his fellow newsboys as they take on the titans of the newspaper world.
I was provided tickets for the purpose of this review. All opinions are mine.it is my Universe, after all.
There is danger. There is drama. There is love. But mostly, this is a show of fabulous dancing. The footwork of these "boys" is mind-boggling. They leap, they flip, they twirl. If you love dance, this is your show.Whether calling for a strike or wooing his news-hunting love interest, Jack Kelly is compelling as a leader of boys and men. He leads this troupe in some of the most dynamic dancing I've seen in the Broadway series. As they go up and down the streets of New York, through all five boroughs, the striking boys climb (and hang from) the scaffolding. As they rise, so does the audience. If you're looking for an exciting, visual delight, this show is for you!
